A worldwide olympiad for classes 6–8, conducted online by the Mathematics Association at BITS Pilani. One hour to test how you stand against the world.
An examination built to stretch how you think
AIMO gives students hands-on practice for upcoming board and competitive examinations while fostering genuine thinking ability. It is a stage to challenge yourself and measure your standing at the international level.

Eligibility & format
Each student must register in their own current class, as per the academic year 2026–27.

Three question streams, one paper
Topics are drawn strictly from material covered up to the student's current class. No syllabus beyond Class 8 appears in any paper.
Core curriculum
Number systems, algebra, geometry, mensuration, data handling — class-wise.
Mental ability
Series, analogies, patterns, spatial reasoning and logical deduction.
Olympiad problems
Non-routine questions that reward insight, construction and proof-style thinking.

Examination conduct
The online portal has sufficient means to detect malpractice. Violations lead to immediate disqualification.

Calculators and any other electronic devices are strictly prohibited.
Do not exit the exam window or switch tabs once the paper has begun.
Keep the credentials emailed to you confidential; they are single-use.

Who is eligible to appear for AIMO?
Students currently studying in classes 6, 7 or 8 may register, in their own current class only.
How and where is the examination conducted?
Entirely online on an external platform. Registered students receive portal credentials by email before exam day.
What is the paper pattern and duration?
One hour, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, combining NCERT, MAT and olympiad-style questions up to the student's class.
Can I use a calculator or rough sheets?
Calculators and electronic devices are prohibited. Plain rough sheets and a pen are permitted.
When are results and certificates released?
Class-wise ranks are published after evaluation, with certificates issued to every participant.
